RARING TO GO RARING TO GO

Another season is underway and hope springs eternal for success on the pitch after all the hard work pre-season. Many of the junior teams have had their opening fixtures, including the U13s, pictured above against Wigan St Judes. If you check our Facebook page, each weekend this season we’ll be listing which fixtures are on, including the juniors.
The first team are out of the Challenge Cup after a battling display against Premier Division Thatto Heath last month and after beating Folly Lane in the Standard Cup, they lost 28-0 in the semi-fianl away at Rochdale Mayfield.
Focus has now turned to the first league home fixture for the first team on Saturday, March 3, against East Leeds with a 2.30pm kick off. The seconds are away at Clock Face.

First team coach Craig Farrimond said: “We’re had a really good pre-season and the lads are raring to go.
"The whole squad trains together and the seconds are going well. A number will get their chance against Folly Lane and we’re trying to sort a friendly as well.
"Sam Ogden and Sam Ireland have moved up to join the first team squad after their performances last year.”
On the 12-22 defeat to Thatto Heath, Farrimond felt it was a decent performance against a top side: “We really stuck at it against Thatto and our discipline and fitness was good.
"We start the league with East Leeds at home who reached the play-off semi-finals last year but then lost some players so we don’t how good they’ll be.
"Then we have a trip up to Askam which is always tough. Every game in this division is tough and physical though.”
Scrum half Pat Toft (pictured below with coaches Danny Attersall and Craig Farrimond) has joined from Waterhead and Farrimond says it will be a real boost when the Joy brothers, Rick and Andy, come back from the injuries they sustained last season.
