New Honours Board final list announced

The list of names that will appear on the new honours board for Rangers’ amateur internationals has been completed and the board to showcase them is now being designed.

It will have a modern look and will be unveiled at the big reunion for the final home game in the existing clubhouse on July 30. It will then take pride of place when the new building opens next year.

It’s taken months of research to ensure no-one has been missed and the club is now confident everyone who should be on the board is there.

It will be paid for by the Past Players with money they’ve raised from their weekly touch rugby subs.

The list begins with Denis Pickering in 1950 while current player Josh Bradbury who has just played against Jamaica for BARLA U23s is the most recent.

There are 43 players, a coach and a physio and it covers the various ages from U18s upwards as well as the different representative teams, beginning in the pre-BARLA days right up to the modern RFL Community Lions teams. We’ve also had internationals representing Norway and Jamaica.

It’s hoped the board will inspire the next generation of players and there will be room for future additions.

Gary Dobbs, Steve Mawdsley, Jimmy Rogers and Jason Wilkes who all toured with BARLA GB

Club stalwart Jake Ashworth, who played for Rangers from the 1960s onwards, said: “It’s putting a bit of pride back in the club.

"There are some good players on that list and it’s important they are honoured for what they’ve done.”

There is still a small window of time for corrections on the list below if you spot a name has been spelt incorrectly.
